GameWorks was a Steven Spielberg-backed entertainment concept that put massive arcade halls in high-traffic destinations. The Las Vegas location at the Showcase Mall occupied over 40,000 square feet across multiple floors, with video games, simulators, a full bar, and a restaurant — the idea being a place where adults could drink and play alongside kids.
It was a reasonable alternative to gambling for families or anyone who'd had enough of the casino floor. The Strip location put it right next to the MGM Grand and across from the Tropicana, making it convenient.
Note: GameWorks has closed many of its locations over the years. Check current status before visiting.
