The STRAT Tower

1,149-foot observation tower at the north end of the Strip

Address 2000 Las Vegas Blvd South

The STRAT — formerly the Stratosphere — is the giant concrete needle marking the awkward gap between the Strip and downtown. The 1,149-foot tower opened in 1996 after a turbulent construction history that included a fire and a foundation collapse. The observation decks span two levels: an indoor floor with cocktails and a windier outdoor deck where you can do the SkyJump, a controlled freefall from 855 feet.

The thrill rides at the summit — the Big Shot, X-Scream, Insanity, and SkyJump — are the highest of their kind on Earth. Tickets are sold separately from the observation deck and the dining package; the all-day pass is the best value if you intend to ride more than one. The 360-degree view down the Strip from the top is unmatched.
