Wynn Las Vegas and Encore

Steve Wynn's pair of curving bronze-glass luxury towers

Address 3131 Las Vegas Blvd South

Steve Wynn's namesake property and its 2008 sister tower Encore sit at the north end of the central Strip and represent the high end of Vegas luxury. The curving bronze glass exteriors deliberately avoid the themed gimmicks of older neighbours; the experience is instead about the interior, with marble, fresh flowers everywhere, and a Wynn-curated art collection in the public spaces.

The atriums leading to the casinos open onto an artificial mountain with a 90-foot waterfall and "Lake of Dreams", a nightly performance using projection and animatronic puppets that emerges from the water. The Wynn golf course — one of only two on the Strip — sits behind the property and helps explain why the resort feels less claustrophobic than the Strip's other megaresorts. Worth wandering through, even if you do not eat or gamble.

A story
Wynn Las Vegas was built on the former Desert Inn site, which Steve Wynn purchased and imploded in 2001. The new property opened in 2005 and pioneered a deliberately understated approach for Vegas — no themed exterior, no signage on the building, just the curving bronze tower.
