Concord's sights cluster tightly along North Main Street, where the State House and the Museum of New Hampshire History sit a short walk apart in the compact downtown. The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center, north of the centre, is the city's other essential stop — a planetarium and space museum named for two New Hampshire-born astronauts. A short drive out of town, Canterbury Shaker Village is one of the most complete and atmospheric Shaker sites in the country.
