Alberta Arts District runs along NE Alberta Street from roughly NE 15th to NE 30th Avenue, a stretch of independent shops, galleries, cafes, bars, and restaurants that is one of Portland's most characterful neighbourhoods. The Last Thursday art walk (last Thursday of each month) is the neighbourhood's signature event, when galleries open late, street performers set up, and the sidewalks get crowded.
The district is also where several of Portland's noted food operations are concentrated: the original Ox restaurant (Argentine-influenced wood-fire cooking), the Little T American Baker, and the original Voodoo Doughnut outpost. The Alberta Main Street corridor is busiest on weekends and summer evenings. Access from downtown is by bus (line 72 on Killingsworth, line 8 on NE 15th) or a 25-minute MAX ride to the Hollywood Transit Center and then a local bus west.
