AFASI is a Bolivian foundation running a 44-hectare protected park outside Santa Cruz, where rescued and endangered lowland wildlife is given habitat rather than enclosures. The reserve is open to visitors, and the foundation takes volunteers.
It sits in the forest-and-savannah country around the city — Nick's Adventures, who tip it, put it at about 45 minutes out. AFASI's own site is emphatic about one thing on the way in: use the tarmac road, the one marked blue on their map, rather than whichever shortcut a navigation app offers.
The coordinates are the reserve's own published point. Check the route map on afasi.org before setting off, and confirm opening arrangements by phone — a 44-hectare private reserve is not somewhere to turn up unannounced.
The phone and WhatsApp numbers are the ones the reserve publishes. The WhatsApp line is also its booking contact for guided visits.
