Small wooden boats from the pier at the bottom of the town run cruises up the bay and into the mangrove rivers behind it. A two- to three-hour trip will take in the small offshore islands, the oyster farms at Cabaraquara, and one of the mangrove channels — good for birdwatching, particularly herons and the occasional roseate spoonbill. Longer outings reach the upper bay and the protected zones of the Boguaçu state park.
Trips can be arranged at the pier or through hotels in town. Prices are reasonable; cash is usually expected.
