Arya Diwaker is the main temple of Suriname's Arya Samaj community and one of Paramaribo's most distinctive modern buildings. Its pale octagonal form combines Hindu symbolism with an open, contemporary design; as an Arya Samaj mandir, it does not centre worship on deity images.
This is an active place of worship, not a museum. Dress modestly, remove shoes when asked, and check whether visitors are welcome before entering during a service.
