The Museo de los Niños, in the Parque Central complex, is one of the most ambitious interactive science museums in Latin America. Opened in 1982 and founded by the children's author Alicia Pietri de Caldera, the museum runs four floors of hands-on exhibits on physics, biology, ecology, and communications — from a walk-through human heart to a planetarium and a working television studio.
The museum is especially busy on weekends with school groups and family visits. Tickets are cheap, and a half-day is reasonable for families with primary-aged kids. Newer exhibits on space exploration and digital media were added in the 2010s. The complex is connected directly to the Bellas Artes metro station, which makes it one of the easier centre-Caracas destinations to reach.
