Nyali is the leafy, upmarket mainland suburb directly across the Nyali Bridge from Mombasa Island, and the first of the big northern beach strips. Big shaded gardens, the City Mall, a handful of decent restaurants and the English Point Marina are the daytime attractions; the beach below is long, white, and reef-sheltered. The Mamba Village crocodile farm is on the inland side. Most of the resort hotels on the North Coast — Bamburi and Shanzu — are an easy taxi or matatu ride further up the road.
