Gordian Palace

Large Roman house complex at Volubilis, associated with the city's 3rd-century rebuilding.

The Gordian Palace is one of the larger domestic complexes at Volubilis, the Roman city usually visited from Moulay Idriss. It is not a palace in the royal sense, but a substantial house-and-courtyard complex that shows the scale of elite life in the city during its later Roman phase.

Look for it as part of a slow circuit through Volubilis rather than as a separate reason to come. The surviving walls are low, but the plan is legible: rooms around courtyards, traces of baths, and service spaces that make the site feel less like isolated monuments and more like a working town.
