Rabat's National Archaeological Museum is the place to go when Morocco's ancient history starts to feel too abstract. The collection is especially strong on Roman-period sites such as Volubilis, with bronzes, inscriptions, statuary, and everyday objects that make the country's pre-Islamic layers easier to grasp.
It is a compact museum, but a valuable one before or after visiting Chellah. The displays put Rabat into a wider North African story of Phoenician, Roman, Berber, and early Islamic worlds, without requiring a full day indoors. For history-minded travellers, it is one of the capital's most useful stops.
