Pioneer Dam Hide is a quiet birdwatching stop on the south bank of Pioneer Dam. Like the best hides in Kruger, it slows the park down: you sit, wait, and let the water bring the wildlife to you.
Birdlife is the main reason to come, with egrets, rollers, cormorants, kingfishers, and other water birds often around the dam. It is a good detour if you are already driving this part of the park rather than a destination to cross Kruger for.
