Sweni Hide is one of Kruger's low-key rewards: a place to stop the car, sit still, and let the bush come to you. Set near the Sweni River in the central park, it is good for birds, antelope, crocodiles when water is present, and the patient possibility of larger predators moving through.
The hide is not a guaranteed wildlife spectacle, and that is exactly why it is useful. Kruger can become a checklist of road sightings; Sweni slows the rhythm down. Bring binoculars, keep voices low, and give it more than five minutes before deciding nothing is happening.
