Mochou Lake is named after a girl from Luoyang in a Tang-dynasty legend. The landscaped park around it includes the Chess Tower (Liuxiang Pavilion), the Moon-embracing Tower, and a cemetery for Ming-era generals. A calm pocket of green in the western part of the city, popular with locals for morning exercise.
