Tangshan Hot Springs (汤山温泉) in the Jiangning district, about 30 kilometres east of central Nanjing, is the city's main hot spring resort area. The springs are geothermal and the water contains various minerals. Several resort complexes in the area offer outdoor and indoor thermal pools, spa treatments, and accommodation.
The Tangshan Dinosaur Park, adjacent to the main resort zone, preserves a significant dinosaur fossil site and operates a museum and park. Tangshan is accessible by metro (Line S6) from Nanjing South station in about 30 minutes. The combination of hot springs, light hiking in the surrounding hills, and dinosaur fossils makes it a popular half-day or full-day excursion from the city.
