Church of Panagia Theoskepasti

Domed Byzantine-revival church above Kato Paphos with a famous icon

A small domed church on a rocky outcrop in Kato Paphos, rebuilt in the early 20th century on the foundations of a far older Byzantine structure. The name — Theoskepasti, "covered by God" — comes from a legend that a divine mist hid the church from Arab raiders in the 7th century.

Inside is an icon of the Virgin attributed by tradition to Saint Luke. The church is small, the views across the bay are good, and the place is still very much in use — quiet during the day, lit up at night.
