Geroskipou

Eastern suburb known for its five-domed Byzantine church and loukoumi

A coastal village just east of Paphos that has effectively merged with the town. Its centre is dominated by Agia Paraskevi, a rare Byzantine church with five domes arranged in a cross — inside are frescoes ranging in date from the 9th to the 15th century.

Geroskipou is also the recognised home of Cypriot loukoumi, the rose-water and pistachio jellies sold all over the island. Stop at one of the family bakeries along the main street to try the local version, which is geographically protected like champagne.
