16th-century watchtower with sweeping views of the old city

A 24-metre tall round watchtower on the western city wall, built in the late 16th century by Hyder Khan, an officer of Ali Adil Shah I. A spiral external staircase winds up the outside, and from the top platform — flat, open, and railed only modestly — you get the best wide view of the old city, with all the major monuments visible from one position.

Climb early in the morning before it gets hot, or at sunset. Two large cannons are mounted on the upper platform. Free; no facilities.
