Chintaman Ganesh Temple is an old Ganesh shrine across the Shipra River from central Ujjain. The idol is traditionally believed to be swayambhu, or self-manifested.
The carved pillars in the assembly hall date to the Paramara period, and the temple remains an active pilgrimage site for devotees seeking Chintaharan Ganesh, the remover of worldly anxieties.
