Ana Sagar Lake

Ana Sagar is an artificial lake created in the 12th century by Anaji Chauhan, grandfather of the Rajput hero Prithviraj III. It runs along the northern edge of the city and is the main place locals come for an evening walk.

Shah Jahan added a row of marble pavilions, the Baradari, along the eastern shore; one of them is now in poor condition, but they make a fine foreground for sunset across the water. Pedal-boats and small rowing boats can be hired at the southern end. The lake is at its fullest after the monsoon in August and September.
