Buddh International Circuit

The Buddh International Circuit, about 40 kilometres south of Noida proper in Greater Noida, is a 5.1-kilometre Formula One-grade racetrack built in 2011. Designed by Hermann Tilke, the same architect behind most modern F1 venues, the circuit features long straights, fast corners and a 14-metre elevation change — a serious piece of motorsport infrastructure that has sat largely unused since the F1 contract collapsed.

The track now hosts MotoGP events (the Indian Grand Prix returned for two-wheelers in 2023), national racing series, manufacturer test days and the occasional open lapping session for paying enthusiasts. The grandstands seat 120,000. For most visitors there is little to do unless an event is scheduled — but on race days it is one of the more impressive sporting venues in north India.

A story
The Indian Grand Prix was held here three times — 2011, 2012 and 2013 — before tax disputes between Formula One Management and the Uttar Pradesh state government effectively shut the event down. The track was the fastest on the F1 calendar at the time, with cars hitting 320 km/h on the back straight.
