Museum H.O.S. Tjokroaminoto occupies the Peneleh house associated with one of Indonesia's most influential early nationalist figures. Tjokroaminoto led Sarekat Islam, and the house is also remembered as a boarding place for young Sukarno, who would later become Indonesia's first president.
The museum is small, but it adds real depth to Surabaya's historical trail. After the House of Sampoerna and the old city, this stop shifts the story toward political awakening, anti-colonial networks, and the people who shaped twentieth-century Indonesia.
