Acre's old city is one of the most layered in the Middle East — Crusader vaults, Ottoman mosques, Bahá'í gardens, and a fishing harbour all coexist within the same walls. Start underground in the Crusader city, work your way up through the Ottoman streets, then walk the seawall as the afternoon light changes over the water. Allow a full day; half a day barely scratches the surface.
