The southern hub of Osaka, where the city does its eating, drinking, and entertaining. The Dotonbori canal runs through the northern edge of Namba, and the streets radiating south from it are a continuous press of restaurants, street food stalls, karaoke boxes, shops, and nightlife venues. Namba Station sits at the centre, where several subway lines and private rail lines converge.
The Shinsaibashi covered shopping arcade begins just north of Dotonbori and runs for over a kilometre. Amerika-mura — a cluster of blocks west of Shinsaibashi — is the city's streetwear and youth culture hub. Kuromon Ichiba, the covered food market one street east of the main shopping area, is one of the best food markets in Osaka, with fresh fish, street snacks, and vendors who have traded here for generations.
