Abeno Harukas

A 300-metre skyscraper in the Abeno district, perched directly above Tennoji and Osaka Abenobashi stations in the south of the city. The building is a vertical city in itself: the lower floors are occupied by the Kintetsu department store (one of Osaka's largest), the middle section by the Osaka Marriott Miyako Hotel, and the top floors by office space and the Harukas 300 observation deck.

The observation deck at the top is one of the best in Osaka for views, especially because its height puts it above the smog layer that sometimes obscures the view from lower buildings. On a clear day you can see Kyoto to the north, Kobe to the west, and Awaji Island in Osaka Bay. The Abeno Harukas Art Museum on floors 16 and 17 runs major travelling exhibitions.

A story
At 300 metres, Abeno Harukas was Japan's tallest building from its completion in 2014 until 2023, when a tower in Osaka overtook it. It sits directly above Tennoji Station and contains, from bottom to top: department store, hotel, art museum, office floors, and the Harukas 300 observation deck with panoramic views extending to Kyoto and the Awaji Island on clear days.
