Osaka Castle

Reconstructed castle with museum and cherry blossom park

The defining landmark of Osaka, rebuilt in 1931 after earlier versions were destroyed by fire and then lightning. The castle keep, visible from much of the city centre, houses a museum covering the castle's history and the Toyotomi clan who built the original in 1583. The surrounding park is one of the best places in Osaka to see cherry blossoms in spring.
