Astana Grand Mosque is one of the clearest expressions of the capital's taste for monumental scale. Its white domes, tall minarets, and enormous prayer hall sit comfortably among the left bank's other showpiece buildings.
For visitors, it is both an active mosque and an architectural stop. Dress modestly, avoid prayer times if you only want to look around, and combine it with the National Museum, Palace of Independence, and other south-left-bank sights.
