Top Spot is a rooftop food court on Jalan Padungan where about a dozen seafood stalls compete for business in the evening. The format is typical Malaysian hawker: choose your stall, order your fish, crab, or prawns (priced by weight, so ask before you commit), and sit at communal tables. The produce is fresh — many stalls display their fish on ice at the front — and the cooking is generally excellent.
The midin (wild jungle fern stir-fried with belacan) here is often cited as the best version in Kuching; the steamed fish in soy and ginger is also consistently good. Budget at least RM40-60 per person for a proper seafood meal. Open evenings from around 5pm.
