A second archaeological site between Lumbini and Tilaurakot, identified with Nigrodharama — the Banyan Grove where, according to tradition, the Buddha met his father and other relatives after attaining enlightenment, and ordained his half-brother Nanda and his son Rahula.
The site has three excavated mounds: a stupa, a monastery, and a small temple, all in red brick. Few visitors; signage minimal. Often combined with Tilaurakot as a single day trip from Lumbini. The drive itself passes through villages and rice fields that have changed little since the 19th century.
