Myanmar Golden Temple

The first international monastery completed in Lumbini, dedicated in 1992, and still one of the most distinctive. Three structures cluster on the site — a meditation hall, a large prayer hall, and a tall stupa modelled on Yangon's Shwedagon Pagoda, gilded to gleam in the Terai sun.

The interior is laid out in classic Burmese style, with seated Buddhas along the walls and elaborately decorated columns. Monks chant before dawn and at dusk; visitors are welcome to sit quietly at the back. The complex is on the eastern (Theravada) side of the Monastic Zone canal.
