The site museum sits between the Monastic Zone and the Tourism Village, just east of the central canal. The collection covers Buddhist art and archaeology from across Asia — Mauryan-era coins, terracotta and stone figures excavated at Lumbini, Tibetan thangkas, and a useful display of comparative scripts of the Pali canon.
Most rewarding as a primer before visiting the Sacred Garden. Allow an hour. Small admission fee. The attached Lumbini International Research Institute is open to scholars of Buddhism by appointment.
