Jinha Beach sits in the far south of the Ulsan metropolitan area, well away from the city center. The crescent-shaped beach is backed by a somewhat run-down resort strip, but the setting itself is striking — particularly the small island of Myeongseondo visible offshore, reachable on foot at low tide.
The sand is mixed with broken shell, so bring water shoes. The water is reasonably clean by Korean standards, though driftwood and debris do wash up. Raw fish restaurants line the beachfront and surrounding streets; other dining options are limited. Skip the overpriced "western-style" places in the alpine cabin buildings along the front.
Despite its rough edges, Jinha is one of the better-looking beaches in the Ulsan area and makes a solid day trip from the city. Don't plan on staying longer — there isn't enough here to fill more than a day.
Getting there
From Ulsan Intercity Bus Terminal, take bus 1715 or 715 direct to Jinha. From the airport or train station, you'll need to transfer at Gongeotap. A taxi from the city center runs around 13,000 won.
