The Bangka Qingshui Temple, founded in 1787 by immigrants from Anxi in Fujian, is one of the three great old temples of the Bangka (Wanhua) district alongside Longshan Temple and Qingshan Temple. It honours Qingshui Zushi, a Song-dynasty monk-deity; the temple's most famous statue is said to drop its nose as a warning before disaster, earning it the nickname the 'Falling-Nose Patriarch'.
Damaged in a 19th-century feud between immigrant groups and never fully rebuilt to its original size, it has an unusually intimate, weathered feel. It sits a short walk from Longshan Temple and is part of any wander through old Bangka.
