Taipei Fine Arts Park

Park, museum and stage area along Zhongshan North Road

The broad green stretch of park between Taipei Fine Arts Museum, the Taipei Story House, and the river is one of the city's better open spaces — partly because it includes the Yuanshan archaeological site, one of the most important prehistoric finds in Taiwan, and partly because it has more public sculpture than any other district. Several large-scale installations from the Biennial are permanently sited here.

The 1914 Taipei Story House, on the western edge of the park, is a half-timbered English-revival villa originally built by a Taiwanese tea merchant and now a small museum of Taipei history. The adjoining Children's Recreation Center has a few low-key fairground rides and is a good distraction for families.
