The Martyrs' Shrine, in a wooded park near the Grand Hotel, is a 1969 copy in miniature of the Hall of Supreme Harmony in Beijing's Forbidden City — sweeping yellow tile roofs, red columns, and a single broad ceremonial hall housing the spirit tablets of the 390,000 Republic of China soldiers killed in the Xinhai Revolution, the Sino-Japanese War, and the Chinese Civil War.
