A small basement museum just east of Taipei Main Station, the Miniatures Museum of Taiwan is the first dedicated miniatures museum in Asia and one of the largest in the world. The collection runs to several hundred fully furnished dolls' houses, dioramas, and standalone miniature scenes at varying scales — Victorian English mansions, Japanese teahouses, Hawaiian beach huts, an entire scaled-down circus.
The detail in the best dioramas is remarkable: working electric lights, individually crafted wineglasses, books with readable text. The single most-photographed item is the Twelve Days of Christmas set, with hundreds of separate moving parts. Allow about an hour; particularly good with children.
