The main boulevard runs north-south through the city center, lined with trees and flanked by Soviet-era government buildings. The park at its center is where the city comes to stroll, sit, and people-watch on summer evenings. The Stalinist facades along the avenue have a certain heavy grandeur that's worth taking in.
