The Youth Park (Boghi Javonon) in the eastern central area of Dushanbe is one of the city's main public leisure spaces, with fountains, walking paths, cafes, and a general atmosphere of relaxed sociability. On summer evenings the park fills with young people, families, and couples; the fountain area is particularly popular after dark when the colored lights come on.
The park has been renovated several times since independence and is in better condition than many of Dushanbe's Soviet-era green spaces. It gives a sense of how the city relaxes — low-key, sociable, with a strong emphasis on family groups and public spaces rather than bar culture. The adjacent streets have some of the better casual restaurants in the central area.
