Wat Tao Thu Riang

Ancient kiln and temple area showing Sukhothai’s ceramic-making history

Wat Tao Thu Riang is useful because it points beyond Sukhothai's temples to the old city's craft economy. The name is associated with kiln remains, and the area helps explain the production of Sangkhalok ceramics that travelled far beyond the kingdom.

It is a quieter, more specialist stop than Wat Mahathat or Wat Si Chum. Go if you are interested in how the city worked as well as how it worshipped; the ruins are modest, but they add texture to the historical park.
