St Anthony of Padua Church is the largest active Catholic church in Turkey, set just off busy Istiklal Avenue behind a courtyard gate. Its red-brick neo-Gothic facade is easy to miss in the rush of Beyoglu, but the quiet interior is a useful pause from the street outside.
Mass is held in several languages, including Italian, Turkish, and English. Even if you are only passing through, step in briefly to see another layer of Istanbul's religious and European history.
