The Hacıveyiszade Mosque is the largest mosque built in Konya in modern times and one of the largest mosques in Turkey. The complex was completed in 2017 and follows the classical Ottoman tradition consciously revived in the late twentieth century: a great central dome flanked by half-domes, four pencil minarets, and a vast porticoed courtyard. It is named after the local twentieth-century religious scholar Hacı Veyis Efendi.
The interior holds several thousand worshippers and the central dome is hung with a single huge crystal chandelier. The architecture is more confident than original — Sinan-derivative — but the scale is impressive and the new building has quickly become a focus of Friday prayer for Konya's western districts. Visitors are welcome outside prayer times; the standard modest-dress conventions apply.
