Konya Ethnography Museum

Costumes, crafts, and domestic life from the Konya plain

The Konya Ethnography Museum sits next to the Archaeological Museum and is normally visited together with it. The collection ranges across the material culture of the Konya region: traditional dress (festival, daily, and bridal), embroidered textiles, kilims and carpets from the surrounding villages, copperware, calligraphic manuscripts, weapons, and the woodworking and metalworking tools of Konya's old guilds.

A reconstructed Ottoman-era village house gives the best feel for how rural Anatolia lived a century ago — sleeping platforms, the central hearth, the food storage cellar. The display is well-labelled in English as well as Turkish. Allow about an hour. Closed Mondays.
