East Beach

The eastern beach is quieter and less uniform than the western one. Fewer sun beds, smaller beach bars, and a more local crowd in the evenings. The water is good for swimming and slightly better for wind-based water sports. If you want a day on the beach without fighting for a sun bed, this is the better choice in peak season.

A story
The East Beach faces slightly into the prevailing wind and as a result the water here is slightly livelier than on the western side. It is also noticeably less developed, with fewer resort hotels behind it and correspondingly fewer tourists on the sand. The beach is narrower but longer than it appears from the town, and the stretch nearest the old town walls gives a view back to the ancient fortifications and the theatre's outer wall.
