Roman Theatre

Massive 15,000-seat Roman theatre with intact outer wall

One of the largest and best-preserved Roman theatres in Turkey, built in the 2nd century AD and able to seat around 15,000 spectators. The outer wall is still largely intact, an unusual survival. It was later used as a fortified enclosure during the Byzantine period and a church was built into the stage building. Still used today for summer concerts and performances.
