Manavgat Waterfall

A short waterfall on the Manavgat River, 5km north of Side and reachable by dolmus in about 10 minutes. The falls themselves are pleasant without being dramatic. The riverbank fish restaurants are the main draw for many visitors — sitting beside the sound of rushing water eating freshly grilled river trout is a reliable combination. Boat trips run upriver from near the falls.

A story
The Manavgat waterfall is wide rather than tall — about 4 metres high but spanning the full width of the Manavgat River, which makes it look substantial. The water runs cold year-round because it is fed by snowmelt from the Taurus Mountains above. The falls have been a tourist attraction since the 1970s, and the rows of fish restaurants along the riverbank are a long-standing tradition. Freshwater fish raised in floating cages in the pool below the falls is the local speciality.
