The Tosh Gate is the southern entrance to Itchan Kala and the quietest of the four — most visitors enter from the western Ata Gate, so the south side stays relatively empty. The gate itself is a simple arched brick passage with a small modern security check; the interest is the immediate approach to the Pahlavon Mahmud Mausoleum just inside.
The route from here to the centre of Itchan Kala passes some of the oldest residential lanes still inhabited, with houses built into the back walls of madrassas. Worth using as an entrance on a return visit for a different perspective on the old city.
