Ba Na Hills is a former French hill station turned mountaintop resort in the forested hills west of Da Nang. The journey is part of the appeal: long cable-car lines climb out of the humid coastal plain into cooler air, with views back toward the city and the Annamite foothills.
The complex is heavily developed, so do not come expecting a quiet mountain village. Come for the cable-car ride, the highland weather, the gardens, and the odd theatrical mix of French-style facades, viewpoints, and the much-photographed bridge held by giant stone hands.
