Suối Tiên Cultural Park is one of the most remarkable theme parks in the world — a Buddhist-themed waterpark and amusement complex on the northeastern edge of Ho Chi Minh City. Giant statues of dragons, kings, and Buddhist deities tower over a combination of water slides, traditional performances, temples, and a crocodile farm. The aesthetic is relentlessly maximalist.
The park's stated aim is to educate visitors about Vietnamese history and Buddhist teaching while providing family entertainment. The result is genuinely unlike anything else: you can float down a lazy river past a replica of the Jade Emperor's palace, watch a crocodile show, and then attend a Buddhist ceremony. It is not ironic about any of this. Extremely popular with Vietnamese families; less so with foreign tourists, which is part of the appeal. About 45 minutes from District 1 by taxi.
