Granite Bay

Granite Bay sits between Tea Tree Bay and Alexandria Bay along the national park coastal walk — a thirty-minute amble from the trailhead. The bay is named for the dark, lichen-streaked boulders that pile up at its southern end, and the small crescent of sand between them is one of the most photogenic spots in the park.

Like Tea Tree, Granite Bay is rocky and exposed, and not really a swimming beach, but it is a beautiful place to pause, eat a sandwich, and watch a possible humpback whale go past in winter. Continue further east to reach Hells Gates, the dramatic cliff cleft at the far end of the headland walk.
